Clarence Blake McKitrick
He graduated from Darlington High School and married Thelma Torstenson on June 10, 1944. He farmed and worked in carpentry in Lafayette County until 1965, when they moved to Manitowoc. There he worked as a carpenter in home building until he retired and they moved to Cape Coral, Florida. He volunteered at the Cape Coral Hospital for 15 years and worked part-time at the Publix Supermarket until they moved to Rhinelander in 2006, where he worked at Trig's. They moved to Grace Lodge in 2015.
Clarence was an avid woodworker, building cabinets, wooden toys, jewelry chests, Christmas ornaments and decorations, and challenging himself with new patterns. He could fix just about anything. He loved to play cribbage and other card games, and he usually won. He and Thelma played cards every day. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Rhinelander.
Clarence is survived by his daughter Karen (Merlin) Wiegel, two sons Larry (Sandra) McKitrick and Richard (Corlis) McKitrick, his seven grandchildren: Kristine Anderson, Cory (Janet) Wiegel, Kerry Wiegel, Curtis (Erin Eaton), Thomas (Charlene) McKitrick, Scott McKitrick, and Erin (Thomas) Williams; eight great-grandchildren: Rebecca (Zach) Oszman, Samantha Anderson, Emmett Wiegel, Scott and Haley McKitrick, Blake and Beau Williams, Sophie Eaton; two great-great-grandchildren: Kyler and Tanner Oszman; his brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma, two sisters, two brothers, and a brother-in-law.
Visitation for Clarence will be held on Monday, Dec. 5, 2022 from 11 a.m. until noon with funeral services following at noon, all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Reverend Myles Alexander will be officiating. Interment will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.
