Don Theisen, manager of the Rhinelander Trig's grocery story, recently presented a check for $10,000 to Rhinelander Police Chief Lloyd Gauthier. The donated funds are earmarked for the purchase of officer bodycams and squad car cameras. City alderpersons were advised of the donation during the Aug. 8 council meeting. Gauthier also noted that the department received a $2,000 donation two years ago from an individual and has been awarded over $22,000 through a state law enforcement grant. In addition, Gauthier said there is $30,000 in a drug forfeiture account that he wishes to put toward this project. The cost to purchase both bodycams and squad car cameras is expected to be under $100,000, according to the council discussion.
