The FBI must be abolished
It is nothing more than a national disgrace, the law enforcement and intelligence wing of the Democratic Party and the bureaucratic state, and nothing can save it short of closing its doors. To paraphrase the late John F. Kennedy, who was referring to the CIA, it is time to splinter the FBI into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds.
The CIA, too, come to think of it.
The military-style raid on Trump's residence was part theater, part politics, part power play. It was designed in part to warn the American people: You cannot resist our power, not even former presidents can. You might as well not resist our tyranny.
It was designed in part to demonize Trump once more, and it was designed in part for political purposes related to the upcoming mid-term elections and the 2024 presidential election. The Biden administration is trying every which way it can to indict Trump for something, anything, to sink the GOP in the mid-terms and then hopefully to disqualify the president from running again.
Delusionally, they think this will work rather than backfire. They think they are exposing the treasons of Trump and of the entire conservative movement, but in fact what they announced more than anything with this raid was the fascist nature of the federal government, the Biden administration, the Democratic Party, and the FBI itself.
The raid is ostensibly about boxes of files Trump has that the government says is classified. Maybe there are other files they are looking for, but all sources indicate it is about violating the Presidential Records Act by taking documents to Florida. That act, by the way, provides no penalties for breaking it, save for barring someone from holding office again.
We need a military raid for that?
The Trump team has been working with the administration over the files, but the large show of force - never before used against a former president - indicates the administration has now opened a new front to shut down Trump and indeed all political opposition, and is using the federal agency to do it.
What we are witnessing is akin to Ukrainian president Zelensky's ban on political parties opposed to his government. Biden is attempting the same sequester of political opposition, only slightly less obviously so, using the FBI as his proxy for censorship. But when a nation openly deploys its police forces against political opponents, that nation has reached Third World status. It is a Banana Republic, dancing under bright interrogation lights.
This subservient role is nothing new for the FBI; it is their signature. Simply put, the FBI is in the business of doing the bidding of the Democratic Party's law enforcement needs. Government oppression needs a strong arm, after all.
And when raiding the residence of a former president isn't enough, they help plot and instigate terrorist acts or insurrections - all so they can later "break them up" before they happen and claim credit for it.
Take the plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. The FBI proudly announced that it had infiltrated the group planning it, but, in fact, as the FBI's own documents describe, FBI informants and undercover agents were involved in the plot for months. Indeed, an investigative piece by Buzzfeed found that the FBI agents were not infiltrators or passive observers, but were driving it:
"An examination of the case by BuzzFeed News also reveals that some of those informants, acting under the direction of the FBI, played a far larger role than has previously been reported," the article stated. "Working in secret, they did more than just passively observe and report on the actions of the suspects. Instead, they had a hand in nearly every aspect of the alleged plot, starting with its inception. The extent of their involvement raises questions as to whether there would have even been a conspiracy without them."
How so, you ask? Buzzfeed goes on:
"A longtime government informant from Wisconsin, for example, helped organize a series of meetings around the country where many of the alleged plotters first met one another and the earliest notions of a plan took root, some of those people say. The Wisconsin informant even paid for some hotel rooms and food as an incentive to get people to come."
As independent journalist Glenn Greenwald has observed, none of that was even new. Indeed, one would have to be a troglodyte to have missed all the years of FBI abuse.
"So many of the supposed 'terror plots' the FBI purported to disrupt over the last twenty years were - just like the Michigan plot - ones that were created and driven by, and would not have happened without, the FBI's own planning, funding and direction," Greenwald has written.
Greenwald cited the 2011 arrest of James Cromitie, an African-American convert to Islam "who the FBI attempted to convince - over the course of eight months - to join a terror plot, only for him to adamantly refuse over and over. Only once they dangled a payment of $250,000 in front of his nose right after the impoverished American had lost his job did he agree to join, and then the FBI swooped in, arrested him, and touted their heroic efforts in stopping a terrorist plot."
Of course, let none of us forget the Waco, Texas, siege of the Branch Davidians. After the ATF tried to serve a search and arrest warrant on the ranch and a gunfight erupted, the FBI undertook a 51-day siege, only to finally assault the ranch, which caused a fire that killed 76 Branch Davidians, including 25 children, two pregnant women, and David Koresh.
Or what about Ruby Ridge, in which the FBI repeatedly asked Randy Weaver to sell them illegal shotguns? Only he kept refusing until the informant "friend" said he was desperate. Weaver sold two shotguns and was promptly arrested. The FBI then tried to leverage that to turn Weaver into an informant.
That led to a skipped court date and another siege, during which Weaver's wife and son and dog were killed by officers given the authority to shoot on sight. Ultimately, Weaver was only convicted of the bail-jumping charge and was later awarded $3.1 million in a civil lawsuit.
On and on the FBI transgressions go, mostly under Democrats (but under George Bush and Dick Cheney, too, who these days are Democrats in disguise). Under Truman, the FBI conducted a witch hunt for communists; in the 1960s, it infiltrated leftist organizations and helped them plot extremist acts of violence.
More recently, Merrick Garland's Department of Justice targets upset parents at school-board meetings as domestic terrorists.
Even the stodgy Holman Jenkins of the Wall Street Journal's editorial board thinks the agency should be abolished.
"Ask yourself: In what way, in anyone's memory, has the FBI covered itself in glory?" Jenkins wrote. "The Larry Nassar case, in which it failed to pursue a serial abuser of teenage gymnasts? The Noor Salman case, in which it trumped up a failed prosecution of the innocent and abused wife of the Orlando nightclub shooter? The Hatfill case, in which it attempted to railroad an innocent scientist over the 2001 anthrax attacks?"
There is no glory but all shame. Or rather, there is no glory in a police state, only shame for those citizens who let it happen without a fight. And so it is time for the FBI to go.
"Its culture at the top seems incapable of using the powers entrusted to it with discretion and good judgment or at least without reliable expectation of embarrassment," Holman wrote of the agency. "The agency should be scrapped and something new built to replace it. One possibility is a national investigative corps that would be more directly answerable to the 93 U.S. attorneys who are charged with enforcing federal law in the 50 states."
Decentralization of federal police power - not to mention shrinking it absolutely, rather than expanding it as we have with the capitol police - is a top priority. Political resistance is, too.
When national political resistance last imploded, the result was Nazi Germany. There was the Gestapo, which was responsible for investigating people deemed to be political or racial enemies of Nazi Germany, and the Ordnungspolizei, which monitored and controlled social and political behavior, and terrorized the general population.
The first tactic was brazenly attacking the Nazis' political opponents. For the first time in our nation's history, we have arrived at that doorstep, the doorstep of tyranny.
Abolish the FBI, before the FBI abolishes political liberty.
