Scott graduated from Rhinelander Union High School in 1967 and served in Vietnam in the 1st Air Cavalry from 1970-1971. After serving, he returned home and married Patricia (Patty) Cahak (Osterman). He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Wisconsin - Platteville and had a long career as a civil engineer. With his first wife Patty, he raised two children, Andrew and Abigail.
Scott married Delma in November 2011. He happily settled in Hillsboro with Delma for more than a decade. Scott was welcomed by his extended family of four stepdaughters - Bonnie, Emily, Jenny, and Molly - and relished his new role as "Pa." He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Braydon, Marleigh, Maggie, Camille, Lucy, Claire, Jude, Remi and Knox.
Scott was a quiet man with a lived-in intelligence and a great sense of humor. He was a firm believer in "dad jokes," some of which were good but most of which were not. He loved animals and was a friend to every dog, chicken and donkey he met. He was a hard worker and enjoyed keeping himself busy on the Hillsboro ranch.
For many years Scott did not talk about his time in Vietnam but in the last decade reconnected with his brothers in arms with whom he had so many shared experiences. He and Delma organized and hosted veterans' reunions in 2018 and 2021 - something that brought him great joy.
He will be buried at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Scott is survived by his wife Delma, children Andrew and Abigail (Richard); stepdaughters Bonnie (Casey), Jenny, and Molly (Chris); and his siblings Michael, John (Tracee), Tim (Joni), Tina (Bernie), and Ric (Victor); and nine grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father Mike, mother Ruth, and stepdaughter Emily.
