Oneida County forestry committee gets update on Town Line Lake Park
Beckman reported the park is seeing more use, as the addition of picnic tables, trash barrels and port-a-pots have made it a more popular destination. The picnic tables were purchased with the help of generous donors and engraved plates will be added to each table to acknowledge each of the donors, she said.
The group has continued to collect trash, mow and rake the park, Beckman said, noting that the beach area has also been improved. With hand-pulling of weeds weekly, or even more frequently, the sandy bottom beach has been coming back. The beach is now a large "V," according to the update. The plan is to keep bladderwort from encroaching on the beach area by using the water shield plants as a buffer. While this may not be possible for the duration of the summer, the group is doing their best to keep those plants back and keep the beach area free and clear.
Oneida County required the group to secure workman's compensation insurance. Beckman reported to the committee that the insurance premium, due in August, had been paid by the group. In other administrative news, the Friends group has updated their membership documents and is getting ready for an initial membership drive. They are also working on building a website and have almost 600 followers on Facebook.
Beckman reported the Friends of Town Line Lake Park are also looking to hold another event this season. They are also planning to continue fundraising through the remainder of 2022. This fund raising will be used to pay for and install a fishing pier and kayak launch for the 2023 season.
