Terri attended Tomahawk High School and was named their first ever Pow Wow Days Queen in 1968 at the age of 16.
Terri met James H. Smith and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where they married on Nov. 3, 1973. She was employed at Caesar's Palace and Circus Circus, until her return to Wisconsin in 1986.
Terri lived the past 23 years in Rhinelander. Over the years she worked as a caregiver, and more recently was employed part-time at Pat's Tavern. She loved to cook, and spending time with family and friends. Terri was very generous and kind, she often put the needs of others above her own.
Terri very lovingly embraced life and the people that surrounded her. She will be greatly missed!
Terri is survived by her son, Hunter J. Smith of Montana, her two daughters, Kelly M. (Frank) Lee of Wausau and Jeanine L. Smith of Milwaukee, her five grandchildren, her brothers Robert (Christine) Nelson of Merrill, and Richard (Valorie) Nelson of Tomahawk. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Russell Nelson in 2011 and Mark Nelson in 2015.
A celebration of Terri's life will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 10 a.m. to noon, with prayers at noon, at the Carlson Funeral Home. You may leave your private condolences for the Nelson family at www.carlsonfh.com.
