While the weather outside was notably chilly Friday, the inside of the greenhouses at Hanson's Garden Village were blooming with both perennial and annual plants just waiting for winter to give up its grip on the Northwoods. According to Hanson's general manager Beth Wallschlaeger, while some plants that will be sold this year "overwintered" from November, the real planting of everything from seeds, clippings, roots and bulbs began in January and is ongoing. "We start our peppers from seed, and time them to be ready by Memorial Day," Wallschlaeger said. Here Hanson's employee Pat Ridderbusch takes care of an assortment of plants in one of the greenhouses Friday morning, April 22, 2022.
