At about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 12 the Newbold Fire Department and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources responded to an out of control brush fire off Lake Mildred Road. Firefighters from both agencies worked for about three hours to get the fire extinguished. The DNR's online fire management dashboard said the fire was caused by burning debris blown into a brush pile, and that 3.84 acres were burned, but four structures were listed as saved. On Thursday, the DNR issued a warning against burning debris due to high winds. Pictured: A member of the Newbold Fire Department signals for more water pressure to the hose he is using on a hotspot.
