Lori Ann Hugunin, 66, of Rhinelander, passed away on Aug. 21, 2021 surrounded by family and in the care of Compassus Hospice at St. Mary's Hospital.

She was born to parents Virgene Baszl (Black) and Russell Moberly on March 31, 1955 in Madison.

She graduated from Westfield High School in 1973 and went on to study at MATC to be a Lab Technician & Emergency Medical Technician. She also studied numerous legal assistant courses through the state bar.

From 1983 into the early '90s, Lori worked as an EMT, Town Clerk, and Legal Secretary in the Westfield & Montello, areas. Lori worked as a Customer Service Representative at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Rhinelander from 1998 until illness forced early retirement.

Lori was honored with perfect attendance at Lapham Elementary in Madison. She did not miss a single day in the entirety of her grade school years. She received many other certificates and awards during her classes at MATC and throughout her working career.

Besides keeping up with the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Lori loved crafts like crocheting and knitting, was a fabulous cook and loved playing cribbage. Most of all, she treasured the time she spent painting ceramics and making cards with her mother. Her favorite flowers were violets and pansies. Other beloved pastimes were watching her favorite pastor and baby giraffes online.

Lori is survived by son Michael (Melissa) East of Rhinelander, daughter, Karen (Howard) Miller of Las Vegas, son Joshua East of Rhinelander and daughter Kelsey Hugunin of Everett, Wash.; eight grandchildren: Britney Miller, Joshua Heintz, Donovan Miller, Mikayla East, Jayden East, Riley Johnson, Dylan Johnson, and Quinn East; four great-grandchildren: Harmony Taylor, Beatrice Heintz, Easton Miller, and Donovan Robert Miller; stepfather, Larry Baszl of Las Vegas, aunt Shirley Ezell of Madison, stepsister Tanya (Dale) Schwanke, Westfield, stepbrother Terry (Carol) Shepard of Westfield, brother Randy (Darlene) Shepard of Peterborough, N.H., sister Tamra Bailey of Kronenwetter, sister Lisa Shepard of Tomahawk, brother Paul Baszl of Tomahawk, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Virgene Baszl, father, Russell Moberly, and daughter, Lindsey Beth Hugunin.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to nurse Jennifer Sparling of Rhinelander, who went above and beyond in providing in-home care. Lori spoke highly of you and was so thankful for you, as is the family.

The family would also like to give special recognition to Joshua East for being with her through the most difficult of times.

At Lori's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. The family appreciates your love and support during this difficult time.
