Ken graduated from Watertown High School and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wisconsin State University - Whitewater. His education fostered several career endeavors in accounting, marketing, and sales. Ken eventually retired from St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where he was employed as a property manager for many years. Alongside his amazingly strong work ethic in his jobs, Ken found a way to contribute to his community as a volunteer and a role model. He was a proud Boy Scout, a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose (Watertown, WI, lodge 830), volunteered in many different church communities, contributed to the efforts of community outreach programs, and participated in fundraising events. Ken was a Ski Patrol at Alpine Valley for decades and regularly shared his love for skiing, inspiring many people down the slopes. He also served his country as a Wisconsin National Guard member. Wherever Ken was living, his heart, effort, and pride contributed to the greater good of the community he was in.
Ken was a quiet and gentle soul. He was a loving husband to Arlene for 43 years, and a supportive father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ken was a kind, giving, and loyal friend. He enjoyed many travel adventures with his family and friends. He also took people rock climbing, ran marathons, and explored numerous bike trails in Wisconsin.
The warm weather called to Ken and Arlene, and they answered by spending 20 years in Florida as snowbirds. He enjoyed the Lake Haven community, the St. Mark's family, and attending art fairs and local events. Ken treasured the amazing opportunity to be exposed to sailing and spending quality time with Arlene's brother, Jeff, and sister-in-law, Betsy. Ken acquired many meaningful relationships and friendships while he was in Florida.
His Wisconsin home on the lake with Arlene was his pride and joy! It was a place where Ken spent many years with family, and he relished hosting the annual Jamboree. He kept the bird feeders filled, the fishing boats floating, the lanterns lit, and he kept the family dressed in Hodag gear. He liked fishing and old fishing lures, and he caught his share of bass in the lake. A lot of time was spent visiting with family and friends, sharing stories at the campfire, and enjoying the ever-changing view of the lake. Ken participated in the Nose Lake Association and always was willing to help a Northwoods neighbor.
Family was the most important thing in Ken's life. Words cannot fully express how much Ken was loved.
Ken's health was hit extremely hard by a rare and devastating diagnosis of Amyloidosis. The family would welcome support of the Amyloidosis Foundation in lieu of flowers or other gifts. Visit amyloidosis.org
