On Aug. 28, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, state Sen. Mary Felzkowski (R-Irma) and state Rep. Calvin Callahan (R-Tomahawk) hosted a ceremony to rename the Tomahawk Post Office in honor of Korean War hero Einar "Sarge" Ingman Jr.

"Einar 'Sarge' Ingman is a true American hero," Sen. Johnson said, according to a press release issued by his office. "For the extraordinary courage he displayed during his service in the Korean War, he was awarded the Medal of Honor - our nation's highest military honor. After recovering from serious injuries, Ingman was discharged from the U.S. Army and returned to Tomahawk where he lived until his passing in 2015 at the age of 85. Renaming the post office in his hometown is a fitting tribute to a man whose service and story will forever inspire future generations."

"It is one of my most greatest duties as a lawmaker to support and sponsor legislation that creates lasting legacies for great servicemen, like Einar H. Ingman, Jr," added Congressman Tiffany. "During his service in the Korean War, Ingman showed remarkable strength and courage and went above and beyond the call of duty. It is my honor to hold this ceremony to rename the Tomahawk Post Office after a true American hero."

In December 2020, President Trump signed into law a measure renaming the Tomahawk Post Office the Einar "Sarge" Ingman Jr. Post Office. Sergeant Ingman was a Korean War veteran whose single-handed destruction of two machine gun nests near Maltari in 1951 allowed his squad to secure its objective. In 1951, President Truman awarded Ingman the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions.

Mr. Ingman was also recognized with two Purple Hearts, three Bronze Stars and various other recognitions. He passed away in September 2015.
