Maureen attended schools in Chicago graduating from the Farragut High School in 1965. She was class president of her graduating class. She then went on to receive her BA Degree in nursing from St. Xavier College in 1982 and then a Masters Degree in Psychiatric Nursing from Rush University in 1987. She then practiced nursing in various hospitals in the Chicago area until moving to Montana where she served as a professor of nursing at Montana State University.
Maureen married Don Henehan in 1970 and they resided in Chicago until his retirement. They then moved to Montana and built their retirement home in the Judith Mountains east of Lewiston, Montana. Don preceded Maureen in death in 2004.
In September of 2014 Maureen met Jack Sorensen. She came to visit for three days and never left. They were married on March 21, 2015 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Maureen became an active member of the Rhinelander community. She was a member of the Rhinelander Rotary Club, the Rhinelander District Library Foundation, the Headwaters Corvette Club, the Oneida County Humane Society Board of Directors, the P.E.O., the Republican Party of Oneida County and the NRA. She worshipped her Lord and Savior as a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She loved her family, her dogs and Corvettes.
Maureen is survived by her husband Jack, her daughter Ann Sorensen, her sister-in-law Barb (Jim) Ward, her nephew Robert Cook Jr., other nieces, nephews, family and many friends. In addition to her first husband she was also preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Maureen will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with memorial services following at 1 p.m., at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Reverends Timothy and Kari Vadis will be officiating. Interment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois. A memorial is being established in Maureen's name for the Oneida County Humane Society.
