Don and Barbara had three children, and they vacationed nearly every year in the Rhinelander/Eagle River area. They had a cabin on Kathan Lake in Sugar Camp where the kids learned to love the outdoors. In 1984, Barbara passed away from pancreatic cancer, and Don had a difficult time with that tragedy. He continued to teach and became a professor at the college level in Elmhurst, Illinois. Then, in 1993, Don met Marjorie McCann. They dated and were a perfect match. They married and decided to try the retirement lifestyle in Arizona for a few years. They moved back to Rhinelander to get away from the heat. They have lived here since. Don has always loved the outdoors, and he relished the times he could go fishing in the Wisconsin north woods.
Don is survived by his wife Marjorie, his three children Donna (Phoenix, Ariz.), Mark (Terre Haute, Ind.), and James (Jim) (Pine Island, Minn.), two brothers Denis and Robert, 5 grandchildren (David, Michelle, Christine, Scott and Susan) and 15 great-grandchildren. Don will be sorely missed.
Don will be laid to rest in the Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois. You may leave your private condolences for the Bielick family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Bielick family.
