She is survived by her loving children Mark Young (Rachel) of Houston, Christian Young (Elizabeth) of Memphis, and grandchildren Emery and Aiden as well as her step-grandchildren Caitlyn, Josh, Robert, and Kendal. She is further survived by her sisters Sheryl Wetzel (Lippoldt) and Christie Froetchner (Lippoldt).
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, and her sister Thea Setzkorn (Lippoldt).
Karen grew up on a grain and cattle farm in Kinsley, Kansas. She graduated from Kinsley High School and earned a degree in cosmetology. Karen raised her two sons as a single mother in the Chicago area, where she earned an Associate of Science degree in Psychology. It was her dream to live in the North Woods and moved to Rhinelander permanently in 1986. Karen owned a local business, Vet Express, for several years, and retired from Lincoln Hills School where she worked as a troubled youth counselor. She was an active member of the North Woods metaphysical community and was a well-known Psychic Channel (Cocorah). Karen was also very active in politics, as well as a champion for women's rights.
A Celebration of Life will be planned in Rhinelander for summer 2022 on her beloved Squash Lake.
