At the banquet, RIA officials stated that the event has raised more than $75,000 for the organization since its inception in 2010. The event was not held last year due to COVID-19. Money raised goes to lower participation costs for families.
Pictured, Holiday Acres Resort owner Kim Zambon, left, presents RIA manager Brett Aylesworth for a check totalling $2,317 - which represents a percentage of room revenue generated by visiting hockey teams that stay at the resort when they take part in tournaments hosted by the RIA. To date, Holiday Acres has donated more than $20,000 back to the RIA.
"Holiday Acres loves hockey," Zambon said. "We are happy to give 10% of our hockey team rentals back to the RIA. It's a good deal. (The donation) keeps going up every year."
The RIA recognized many longtime supporters and volunteers during the banquet and presented the Buttney Family Scholarship, which covers the registration costs from one male and one female youth hockey player within the RIA.
