Frederickson, Larson file non-candidacy papers
Mayor and alderman will not run for re-election
According to a notice posted to the city clerk page on the city website, Mayor Chris Frederickson and District 2 alderman Andrew Larson have submitted non-candidacy papers.
The other three incumbent aldermen up for re-election on April 5 - District 4 alderman Tom Kelly, District 6 alderman David Holt and City Council president Ryan Rossing, who represents District 8, had not yet declared their intentions as of press time Wednesday.
The term for Mayor and alderperson begins on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 and all terms are four years.
Information concerning aldermanic district boundaries may be obtained from Theresa Lassig, City Clerk at 135 S. Stevens Street, Rhinelander, WI 54501.
The first day to circulate nomination papers for mayor or alderperson is December 1, 2021, and the final day for filing nomination papers is 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, in the office of the city clerk.
If a primary is necessary for any of the seats, the primary will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022.
Frederickson took office in April 2018, succeeding former mayor Dick Johns, who retired after more than 50 years in public service.
Frederickson, a registered write-in candidate, defeated former alderman Alex Young in that race, tallying 781 votes to Young's 526.
Larson was the sole candidate in District 2 back in 2018 as the incumbent, Mark Pelletier, decided not to seek another term.
Holt and Rossing also ran unopposed in 2018, while Kelly defeated Kyle Rogers to hold the District 4 seat.
More on the upcoming city election will be published as information is received.
