He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginger" Taylor of 64 years, brother Robert (Jan) Taylor of Harshaw, sister Carol (Wally) Axberg of Tipton, Iowa, daughter Cheryle (Butch) Rank of Monico, sons, Doug Taylor of Rhinelander, Scott Taylor of Malad, Idaho and Chuck Taylor of Wausau; his grandchildren: Kristin Fortier of Green Bay, Matthew Rank of Wilmington, N.C., Justin Rank of Monico, Brian (Samantha) Taylor of Rhinelander, Jeremy Taylor of Rhinelander, Amanda (Danny) Hess of Malad, Idaho, James (Casie) Taylor of Delco, Idaho, Nick (Jenica) Swenson of Cabot, Ark.; nine great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brother Mike Taylor, daughter Pamela Swenson and granddaughter, Erica Taylor.
Special thanks to his nephew Ryan Taylor for his continued help and support and to Mary, Wes, Jean and Rose for their assistance with home healthcare.
Dick worked at the Rhinelander Paper Mill from 1962 until 1998 when he retired. During his retirement, he enjoyed camping at Buffalo Lake Campground, hunting at various locations and ice fishing at Pelican Lake, where he always had many visitors to BS with.
He loved spending time in his garage, tinkering with various things and would always lend a helping hand to friends and family. When he was finished with his days or just trying to relax, Dick could be found happily sitting on his glider in front of the garage, more than likely with a beer in his hand.
At Dick's request, no memorial services will be held. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the summer of 2022.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, 54501, 715-365-4343. Everyone is invited to sign the guestbook or leave an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com.
