Lorraine was born in Wausau on July 7, 1926, to Hugo A. and Margaret C. (Metz) Wiemann. She was raised in Wausau and attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Wausau High School. She was united in marriage on June 10, 1944 to Wilbur Wagner. The couple moved to Rhinelander in 1954 and from 1964 until 1980, Lorraine was employed as a lab technician at the Bump Clinic. She then was employed as a dietary aide from 1980 until her retirement in 1986.
She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.
Lorraine enjoyed baking, gardening, flowers and reading. But most of all she loved her family and church dearly.
She is survived by her children: Dennis Wagner of Melrose, Wis., Sandra Schober of Janesville, Boni (Art) Brunner of Jackson Hole, Wyo., Jerry Wagner and Jean Byczek of Manitowish Waters, and a daughter-in-law Jane; nine grandchildren: Austin (Kris) Wagner, Scott Schober, Jason and Jarread Wagner, Jeni and Nikki Brunner, David Wagner, Melanie Wagner and Matthew (Jessica) Wagner, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wilbur Wagner in 1960, son Bob Wagner in 1995, brothers, Maynard and Delmar Wiemann, sister Marcie Goll, daughter-in-law Barbara (Stockley) Wagner and a son-in-law, Ronald Schober.
The visitation for Lorraine will be held on Tuesday morning, June 1, 2021 at the Hildebrand Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church located at 125 E. King Street, Rhinelander with Fr. Chris Kemp officiating. Immediately following the mass, there will be a procession to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery.
