Jim came into this world on Jan. 2, 1937 weighing only 3 lbs. His Grandma Barnish took over his care because of his premature weight and because of her vast experience raising 13 of her own children. The family moved from Milwaukee to purchase the Birnamwood Hotel and later bought a dairy farm in Birnamwood. The farm branched out into F. H. Jozwiak & Sons where James drove livestock transport trucks back and forth to area auctions. When James wasn't working on the farm he was pedaling his Schwinn Fantom bicycle back and forth, five and a half miles one way, visiting his future wife, Rosemarie Clark.
Jim and Rose purchased a couple of small farms together and planted Christmas trees on them. His interest in trees landed him a job with the U.S. Forest Service/Forest Genetics Lab which enabled him to build a home and raise four children in Rhinelander.
James retired at an early age and once again started a small Christmas Tree Farm and garden that he and Rose enjoyed for more than 31 years. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, camping and watching the Packers.
The family would like to thank the staff of Maplewood Villa and Wausau Manor for the care and compassion they provided to James.
Graveside services for Jim will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the St. Kunegunda Catholic Cemetery, Father Richard Rhinehart will officiate.
