Oneida County Humane Society receives $10,000 grant from Petco Love
"Today Petco Love announces an investment in OCHS and hundreds of other organizations as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized," Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love, said in a press release announcing the grant. "Our local investments are only one component. This month, we also launched the first of our national tools to empower all animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us."
"OCHS is thrilled to partner with Petco Love to help save pets lives and values their continued support. This grant will go far in our efforts to get more animals adopted and bring awareness to our organization" said Sue Otis, OCHS board member.
According to the release, Petco Love is a nonprofit leading change for pets nationally by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since founding in 1999 as the Petco Foundation, they've empowered organizations with $300 million invested to date in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And, they've helped find loving homes for more than 6.5 million pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations, like ours, nationwide.
OCHS is a nonprofit organization serving Oneida County.
"Since 2012, OCHS has helped thousands of animals through sheltering, care and adoption," the release states. "OCHS annually achieves a live release rate between 95-98%. The live release rate is the percentage of animals that leave our facility through adoption, return to owner or transfers to other shelters. It is a high rate for the industry and we are proud of this staff accomplishment."
