He graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1961 where he lettered in football, basketball and track.
Pete married his high school sweetheart Beverly Novak on Aug. 25, 1962.
He was an avid Green Bay Packers and University of Utah fan. He loved to talk cars and enjoyed the two Corvettes he owned. He was a great storyteller and had a story for everything. He loved to B.S. with everyone, and his family called him The Mayor.
Pete was a proud member of Ironworkers Local #27. He got into the "racket" in Milwaukee, in 1967. He was known for his daily cheese sandwich lunches. He boomed out around the U.S. and Canada building smokestacks, eventually making it to Utah to work on the Kennecott smelter stack (1973). He stayed until he retired from the Local.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Everett, Collin, Melvin, Conrad, Allen and William. It will be one heck of a reunion.
He is survived by his loving wife Beverly and sons Jess and Rick (Gina). He was the best Papa to his grandchildren: Lindsay (Edward) Figueroa, Alexa (Taylor) Dillingham and Peter Johnson; his great-grandchildren: Harrison, Olivia, London and Noah Figueroa. Isabelle and Olive Dillingham.
Pete was laid to rest in a private family service at Murray City Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor. Please share your memories and photos with his family at www.starksfuneral.com.
