Iris is survived by her daughter Georgia (Jerry) Mueller, her two grandchildren Jenny (Don) Clark and Jason (Nicole) Mueller, and her four great-grandchildren, Bryn, Jadyn, Ryan and Kyle. She was preceded in death by her husband George on Dec. 21, 1986.
She was an avid bridge player, knowing the value of time with friends. She loved her family dearly. Above all Iris was a child of God, daily and prayerfully staying in relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Iris attended Merrill High School, Lincoln County Normal School and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. She taught first grade at Newbold Elementary.
Iris found great joy in serving and contributed to many community organizations, including St. Mary's Hospital, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Retired Educators (Volunteer of the Year Award recipient), Delta Kappa, Women's Club, and Headwaters Reading Council.
At St. Mary's Hospital she started and chaired the Escort (Patient Assistance) Department, helped at the Blood Bank, knitted baby sweaters for the gift shop and read for children in pediatrics.
At Trinity Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday School into her 80s, served on the Board of Elders and Altar Guild, participated in Bible study for many years, and delivered flowers.
Visitation for Iris will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 9 to 10 a.m., with funeral services following at 10 a.m., all at Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Kari Vadis will be officiating. Masks will be required for all in attendance and social distancing will be observed. Entombment will follow the services at the Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery in Merrill, Wisconsin.
