Rhinelander Partners in Education to offer free bike helmets to students entering fourth and fifth grade
Rhinelander PIE has purchased bike helmets for all students entering fourth and fifth grade in the fall, the group announced in a press release. These are the students who missed the event the past couple of years.
"We are asking Rhinelander families who have students entering fourth or fifth grade next school year to stop by either the YMCA of the Northwoods or the Rhinelander Police Department from June 21 - July 2 to pick up a free bike helmet for those students," said Rhinelander PIE Board Member Mike Cheslock. "We feel that it's very important for every student to be safe and to wear a helmet while biking. Outdoor recreation is very popular for young people in the Northwoods, especially during the summer. We hope the bike helmets help with increasing the activity and safety of our young people."
The School District of Rhinelander will also be handing out helmets to students entering fourth and fifth grade at Summer School.
Most of the helmets are medium size, but there a few smalls and a few larges, too.
For questions, please call Mike Cheslock at 715-365-9745.
