Genevieve "Gen" Moore, age 85, of New Hope, Minn., passed away peacefully on June 11, 2021. She was born Oct. 27, 1935, in Lake Forest, Ill., the daughter of Alfred and Esther (Scheetz) Fritz.

When she was around 10 years old, Gen moved to Rhinelander with her family where her dad owned the local bowling alley. While married, she lived in Green Bay for several years, but eventually moved back to Rhinelander and graduated from Nicolet College in 1987. She worked as a medical transcriptionist for Rhinelander Medical Center for a few years before moving to the Twin Cities area in the early '90s, which she made her home ever since.

Gen had many interests and passions. During her younger years, she loved to bowl (and she was excellent at it!) and spent a lot of time sewing and making crafts. One of the most unique things she made were dolls out of bowling pins. She spent hours painting cute little faces on each doll and sewing the most adorable outfits for them. She also loved gardening and flowers, always having tons of planters filled with petunias, impatiens, and geraniums (ivy geraniums were her favorite) during the summer months.

Gen was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. She rarely missed watching a game, and had a ton of Green Bay Packers paraphernalia including a car flag, a steering wheel cover, an umbrella, glassware, earrings, keychain, calendar, mouse pad, you name it! She also loved pop music. Her favorite band was 'NSYNC, and she was especially fond of Lance Bass. She was also a huge animal lover. One of her biggest loves was her cat, Callie, and regularly donated to the Animal Humane Society.

Gen loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. She would often sprinkle jokes into a conversation, ensuring many of her interactions were filled with smiles and laughter. Her family and friends have many fond memories, and she will be greatly missed as she takes her place as an Angel next to God.

Gen was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Shirley (Harold) Peters of Rhinelander and Carol (John) Byrne of Long Grove, Ill. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Harry) Schmidt of Clearwater, Fla.; her son, Roger (Darlene) Knauf of Clearwater, Fla.; her daughter, Merri (Jim) Westlund of Forest Lake, Minn.; and her daughter, Melanie (Mike) McDonald of Champlin, Minn.; and seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation for Gen will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 10 a.m. to noon, with funeral services following at noon, all at the Carlson Funeral Home. The Reverend Tammy Barthels will be officiating. Entombment will follow in the Northland Garden Mausoleum. You may leave your private condolences for the Moore family at www.carlsonfh.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Gen's memory to the Animal Humane Society. Donations can be made by calling (763) 489-2210 or on their website at https://www.animalhumanesociety.org/. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Moore family.
