Rhinelander Partners in Education recognizes top educators with first Golden Apple awards
In the inaugural year there were 19 educators nominated for the professionalism and innovation they show each and every day.
"It was an impressive lineup of educators that we were blessed with reviewing," shared Ryan Zietlow, Rhinelander PIE board member. "The stories of impact they each made gave the committee a difficult decision on landing on the top five in our first year."
Using the nominations, along with feedback from students and school administrators, the committee selected five educators to receive the first Golden Apple awards.
These educators were:
• Angie Zastrow - YMCA Youth Development Center
• Kristin Guyette - Northwoods Community Elementary School
• Ann Edwards - Pelican Elementary School
• Kim Bowman - James Williams Middle School
• Taylor Kloehn - Rhinelander High School
Rhinelander PIE surprised the educators in their schools and presented them with a $250 gift for all their work.
"Rhinelander PIE thanks all those that took the time to nominate an educator as well as the Golden Apple Committee," the group said in a press release.
Committee members included Ryan Zietlow-Golden Apple Committee Chair, Amy Vanney-Rhinelander PIE President, Sarah Gruber-Rhinelander PIE/Nicolet College, Lauren Sackett-Rhinelander PIE/Chamber of Commerce, Renee Tenderholt-Retired Educator, Jon Koch-Retired Educator, and Kate Ferrell-Incoming President of Nicolet College.
