According to a criminal complaint filed June 1, Luis Joel Gonzalez Martinez of Fort Meyers, Fla. has been charged with felony stalking, threatening battery to a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer.
Martinez made his initial appearance in Oneida County Circuit Court last Tuesday afternoon at which time bail was set at $10,000 cash. According to online court records, Oneida County district attorney Mike Schiek advised circuit judge Michael Bloom that additional charges may be filed against Martinez.
The complaint filed June 1 alleges Martinez entered a private garage in Rhinelander on more than occasion and left gifts, including flowers and a new BB gun, for the resident.
The resident also reported that Martinez had been repeatedly messaging her after she told him that she wanted no further contact with him, the complaint states.
Also, during the process of being booked into the jail, Martinez "imitated holding a rifle" at the arresting officer and "made gun sounds," the complaint states.
The complaint also notes that police received other reports regarding Martinez, including that he began tipping over furniture at the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport on May 27 after being asked to leave because he did not have a ticket. On May 30, police also received a report that Martinez was highly intoxicated and taking his clothes off in a local liqour store, the complaint states.
He is due back in court June 9 for preliminary hearing.
If convicted of all charges he could be sentenced to over 10 years in prison.
