Carole Ann Knops, beloved mother, sister, wife, Grammy, aunt and friend went to be with our Lord on March 10, 2021. Carole was born on June 29, 1942 to Claude Jr. and Margery Carter in Fort Worth, Texas. She was married to her loving husband, Robert (Bob) David Knops on Feb. 23, 1962 in Milwaukee, and moved to Rhinelander in 1969.
Carole raised their three children while Bob worked at the State Highway Department. In the late '70s they started Fishing Hot Spots, Inc. and several additional businesses.
Carole was a loyal and dear friend, with a smile and laugh that could light up a room. Her endless capacity for loving and nurturing others made her a role model for many especially as a mother and grandmother. She was passionate about helping others in need and very active in her church, St. Augustine's. Carole worked for decades at "The Table" serving food to those in need, volunteered at Meals on Wheels and many other charities, and traveled domestically and internationally rebuilding housing destroyed by hurricanes. Carole loved to travel and she and Bob saw a large part of the world together, along with too many canoeing and camping trips around America and Canada to count.
Carole is survived by her three loving children, Kristen Brennan (Patrick), Daniel Knops, and Jeffery Knops; her grandchildren Morgan, Zoe, Ethan, Mia, and Sydney; her siblings, Linda Laasch and Jimmy Carter; her in-laws Gary and Harriet Knops, Jack Laasch and Karen Carter, her nieces and nephews and by so many amazing friends and relatives.
Carole is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Knops and her parents, Claude Jr. and Margery Carter.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hildebrand Funeral Home and Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport St., Rhinelander, WI 54501, 715-365-4343. Everyone is invited to sign the guestbook or leave an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com.
