The show is free and open to the public.
"You will see ballet on the water, jumpers doing tricks off a 5 1/2 foot ramp, a kite soaring through the sky, human pyramids, pairs working together to perform amazing stunts, and so much more," organizers said in a press release. "The show will also feature former and current national show ski, swivel, jump and barefoot water ski champions. There will be a freewill offering and all proceeds from this event will benefit Graceful Wakes. Concessions will be available for purchase."
Mark Voisard, founder of the Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team, stated, "I'm excited to return to the Rhinelander area again this year to not only support the adaptive event being put on by Graceful Wakes and Hodag Water Shows but to also ski in front of many family members and friends. I'll be joined by fellow members of the Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team including one of our very own members, Grace Petzold, who is the founder of Graceful Wakes."
After skiing for several years as a member of the Chain Skimmers Water Ski Show Team in Eagle River, Voisard moved to Florida to ski at Cypress Gardens. In addition to being a former national champion skier, Voisard is an accomplished kite flyer. He will be putting on a kite demonstration during Friday's show.
Grace Petzold, president and founder of Graceful Wakes, Inc., stated, "After putting on adaptive events in the Northwoods since 2016, we're thrilled to return again this year. Some of my teammates from both the Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Show Team (Janesville) and Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team (Winter Haven, Fla.) will be traveling to Rhinelander for the events. It's going to be a great day as we give back to the community at the adaptive water ski clinic and then perform in the water ski show."
Petzold went on to add, "At our Graceful Wakes clinic, we are looking forward to providing the opportunity for approximately 30 local residents to get on the water and experience waterskiing."
The clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and is open to children age 6 and older, and adults, with disabilities. At the event, participants use a specially designed adaptive water ski and have two trained side skiers next to them, so they can experience the thrill of water skiing, the release states.
