James Owen Greene, 86, of Three Lakes passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Milestone Senior Living in Eagle River. He was born on Feb. 14, 1935, in a log cabin in Monico, the first son of Owen and Lillian Greene.

He attended Three Lakes High School, where he excelled on the baseball diamond, the basketball court, and the football field. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army before returning to Three Lakes where he met and married his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Greene. He ran his own plumbing business for many years and volunteered in the Lions Club and at St. Theresa's Catholic Church.

Bupp was a loving and devoted father who always put his children first. He spent countless hours pulling them behind his boat in the summer and behind his snowmobile in the winter. He taught them how to work hard and how to have fun, how to cheer for the Packers and sing along with "The Music Man." He instilled in them a love for the Northwoods and the beauty of sunsets. We will all miss his smile, his laugh, and the charismatic, playful way he interacted with people. He will no longer be with us, but he will continue to live on in all of us.

He was preceded in death by his parents Owen and Lillian, his sisters Carolyn (Pete) Baltus, Clara (Ed) Hempfer, and brother William "Uncle Bill" Greene. He is survived by his sister Yvonne (Fred) Bonack, his wife Mary Ann, his children: Joseph (Jacqulyn), Jane (Jonathan Walley), John (Cara), and Jacki. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his grandchildren, Taylor, Owen, Bailey, Lindsey, Madison, and Braylon, as well as his many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday July 9, 2021 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Three Lakes. Visitation was held from 10:30 a.m. until time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting memorial gifts in James Greene's name to support the University of Wisconsin Foundation Initiative to End Alzheimer's. Cash gifts and checks (payable to Mary Ann Greene) may be sent to P.O. Box 342, Three Lakes, WI, 54562.
