Germaine married the love of her life, David R. Jonesi, on April 23, 1966 and celebrated 53 years of togetherness. Germaine gave birth to two sons, David in 1967 and Steven in1968. Germaine raised her family and went back to college and received her bachelor's degree from Northeastern Illinois University in 1986 with a major in early childhood education. Germaine taught for the Chicago Public School system for 10 years before she retired in 1996 and moved with Dave to their dream home on Lake Mildred.
Germaine had an infectious, high-energy personality and kept quite busy upon moving to the Rhinelander area. Germaine volunteered at Nativity School helping with the preschool children as she loved being around the kids. She became known as "the Picture Lady" teaching children about famous and not so famous works of art. Germaine volunteered many hours just helping the school out with various functions.
Germaine also became involved with the Lake Mildred Property Owners Association and became the lake historian as she interviewed all property owners for their lake history and backgrounds. This information became a huge part of a published book by the Lake Association. Germaine had a very keen interest in genealogy for both sides of her family and spent countless hours researching pertinent information. She joined the Northwoods Genealogical Society and for years was the Secretary and enjoyed the monthly meetings and helping others on their ancestral quests.
Germaine and Dave also found a passion in volunteering at the Northwood's Wildlife Center in Minocqua. Many hours were spent helping with mailings and other functions that required their assistance.
Germaine was an avid fisherwoman and loved catching bluegills off the dock and going out in the boat with Dave. Germaine was passionate about many things but her greatest passion involved her family, friends, and above all her grandchildren.
Germaine is survived by her two sons, David (Kelly) Jonesi of Tomahawk, and Steven (Kerry Mcsperrin) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren: Allyson, Michael, Jessica, Zachary and great-grandchildren Bayleigh and Ascher. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother Anthony.
A Celebration of Germaine's life will be held at her home, 7133 Lakeland Drive, at noon on July 17, 2021. All friends are welcome to come share in the life of this beautiful spirit. You may leave your private condolences for the family at Carlsonfh.com.
The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Jonesi family. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Northwood's Wildlife Center in Minocqua.
