Christine Kay Martin, 66, of Rhinelander, sadly passed away surrounded by her loved ones on June 30, 2021.

Chris was born Sept. 29, 1954, in Monroe, to Buddy and Judy (Krupke) Martin. She graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1972 and then went on to graduate from Marshfield School of Nursing. Chris was a caring, compassionate, devoted registered nurse who enjoyed helping patients of all ages whether assisting to bring babies into the world or caregiving the elderly in their twilight years. She left an indelible mark on each and every life she touched. As a caregiving savant, she always helped anyone in need. Chris was very strong willed and lived life on her terms, often surprising many by her gusto for life at such a short stature. She had spunk and sass second to none. Anyone lucky enough to be part of her life was blessed by her presence.

Chris's hobbies included avidly watching old movies, westerns, and reruns of "The Golden Girls," reading many novels of all genres, and enjoying challenging crossword puzzles. She loved playing many card games, with a heated game of euchre as her favorite.

Chris loved being surrounded by family and friends. Chris was a very loyal daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She raised three beautiful children and watched them graduate from college and achieve their goals and dreams. She greatly enjoyed playing with her grandkids and listening to them laugh, especially during overnight slumber parties. Chris had great love not only for people, but for animals as well - enjoying a variety of pets throughout the years: dogs, cats, and her beloved horse, Fella. Chris is survived by her twin daughters, Brooke Novacheck and Blythe Novacheck, both of Madison, her son Andrew Novacheck (Mandy) of Ixonia, grandchildren Maverick and Leila, her parents Buddy and Judy Martin, sisters Cathy Danner (Jon), and Julie Martin, all of Rhinelander; her brother Craig Martin (Therese) of Germantown, Tenn., and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her former husband and father of her children, Steven Novacheck of Stoughton. Chris will be dearly missed and always celebrated.

"When we lose someone we love, we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind."

Visitation for Christine will be held on Friday, Aug. 6, 2021 from 9:30 to 11 a.m., with memorial services following at 11 a.m., all at the Carlson Funeral Home. You may leave your private condolences for the Martin family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Martin family.
