In her spare time Marie enjoyed flea markets, both as a vendor and as a visitor. She was involved in 4-H for most of her life with her daughters and granddaughters and taught them a great deal about horses through the 4-H program. She also raised rabbits and sold them to a number of local grocers.
She worshipped her Lord and Savior as a longtime member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rhinelander.
Marie is survived by her daughters Carol (Michael) Umland and Linda O'Brien, her sons Jeffrey (Karol) Mahner and Stephen (fiancée Brenda) Mahner, her 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great- great-grandchildren, her brother Monte (Dora) James, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her son Joseph Mahner and her sisters Ruth DuFore, Marjorie Newman, Alice Ritchie and Ila Flannery.
Family graveside services will be held on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021 at the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Karl Schultz officiating. You may leave your private condolences for the family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving Marie's family.
