Kenneth Eugene Everson, 75, of Rhinelander, passed away at home surrounded by his family.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; sons, Paul (Kim) Everson and Adam (Nikki) Carrico; daughter, Lisa (Jessie) VanOuse and his grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah Blechl) Everson, Evan and Landon Carrico, whom he adored and was so proud of.
He is also survived by brothers, Clarence, Ed (Judy) and Marv (Wendy) and sisters, Arlene Shepherd, Mabel Fawley, Joyce Blomberg, Rosetta Nickolie, Bonnie (Chris) Cira and Cyndy (Clyde) Hanson. He will be greatly missed by his dog, Sam, as well as many more family and friends that are too numerous to name. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ethel (Fitzpatrick) Everson; brothers, Bruce, Edwin, Frank, Art, Ray, and grandson, Wyatt.
Ken was born in Rhinelander on Aug. 1, 1945. He graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1963 and went on to become certified as a Master Plumber. Ken was co-owner of a plumbing and heating business before he sold his share and started working in the trades as a pipefitter. His work took him to various parts of the state and country before he retired in 2008.
In his retirement, Ken enjoyed fishing, gardening, being in the woods, walks with his dog, helping others with plumbing and heating projects, tinkering in his shop, brewing his famous homemade wine and cruising around the lake on the pontoon with his wife, dog and brandy old fashioned sweet in hand.
Ken loved fishing many different species. From early season trips to the Willow, tip-ups on first ice on Jennie Weber, sturgeon fishing out west, to catching trout and coho on their big boat, The Outcast, on Lake Michigan; he would wet a line anywhere.
Ken could make anyone chuckle. He had a way of saying things that just made you smile. He loved to give you a "hard time" but loved it even more when you gave it right back. He was always willing and ready to help anyone with anything. His legacy in what he taught his kids and grandkids will live on forever.
We will all miss that incredible sense of humor, that smile and wit and we are forever grateful for the love, knowledge and support that he had for all of us.
