According to a criminal complaint filed Feb. 10, a Rhinelander police officer was dispatched to Walmart at about 4:30 p.m. Feb. 5. A woman and her daughter had reported to store employees that a man, later identified as Kevin W. Wiesshoff, had followed them around the store with his genitals hanging out of his pants. She told the officer the two made numerous turns to lose the man, but he kept following them.
Store security video appeared to verify what the woman had said, and that Wiesshoff left the store when he saw the woman talking to store employees, the complaint states. The video also allegedly showed Wiesshoff standing about 5 feet from the woman and daughter and stared at them not moving.
Rhinelander police posted still photos from the video on its Facebook page, and numerous people identified Wiesshoff, along with the fact he lived in Prentice and worked in Medford. This information was later verified by a member of the Price County Sheriff's Department, according to the report of an RPD detective.
The detective traveled to Medford and found Wiesshoff sitting in his car. The report said that Wiesshoff initially denied being in Rhinelander on Feb. 5, but he did concede the photos posted to Facebook were of him.
According to online court records, Wiesshoff made his initial court appearance before on Wednesday before Oneida County Circuit Judge Michael Bloom. A $10,000 cash bond was set and an adjourned initial appearance scheduled for Feb. 17.
If convicted of the exposing genitals charge, Wiesshoff could be sentenced to up to 3 1/2 years in prison, while the other charge is a misdemeanor with a 9 month in jail maximum penalty.
