Joan was born with a sense of adventure on Dec. 28, 1959, to Barbara and Robert Cyganek, in Milwaukee. Joan graduated from Rhinelander high school in 1977. After graduation she pursued her passion for sewing and clothing design independently and with Nordic Ski Wear. Years later she went on to work for AmericInn and American Family Insurance where she met so many great friends.
In 1977 she met Jeffrey Lemke over a CB radio in Rhinelander. Joan and Jeff married in 1978 and went on to have two children, Sara and Carla Lemke. They lived in Eagle River for 24 years before their divorce. She moved to Sun Prairie and then on to San Antonio, Texas.
Joan loved playing card games, watching the Packers and spending time with her grandchildren, Jazmin and Dylan (Sara Lemke & Chris Chuppa), Macenzie and Jamie (Carla Lemke). Her contagious smile and laughter will never be forgotten.
Joan was predeceased by her sister, Sandra Scheer on November 28, 2020.
She is survived by her parents, Barbara and Robert; siblings, Christine Ashbaugh, Mary Bushong and Tom Cyganek; children, Sara and Carla and grandchildren: Jazmin, Dylan, Macenzie and Jamie.
The Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, located at 125 E. King Street, Rhinelander. Fr. Chris Kemp will officiate.
When arriving at church please sanitize your hands. Masks and social distancing will be required. This is for the safety of the family and the Rhinelander community. Immediately enter church and be seated.
