Donny was first employed as a draftsman in Milwaukee. He returned to Rhinelander and worked for a short period of time in his Dad's Chevrolet dealership before owning and operating Donny's Supper Club on Lincoln Street. He eventually sold the supper club and moved to the Appleton area where he went to work for Schneider Trucking. He retired from Schneider's and returned to Rhinelander in 2010. He has lived here since.
Donny married the former Veola "Penny" Manning of Rhinelander and she preceded him in death on March 5, 2015.
Donny had many interests outside of his work. He had his pilots license at one time. He enjoyed music and played the saxaphone. He loved boating and fishing, especially in Florida with his parents and friends. He looked forward to family events and they always looked forward to seeing Donny. He was easygoing, had a great sense of humor and he loved all of his family.
Donny is survived by his sister Susan (David) Brownell, Penny's daughters Terry Frieders and Jennifer Mahner, whom he helped raise as his own, his grandchildren Alicia, Hailey, Thomas, Brendon, Jesse and Mariah; nieces, nephews, lots of other family and many friends. In addition to his wife he was also preceded in death by his parents.
