The Rhinelander High School boys' hockey team culminated its annual Kindness for Kids toy drive Thursday night with its game against Tomahawk at the Rhinelander Ice Arena.

The team collected toys to donate to Kindness for Kids, a local organization that gifts presents to less fortunate families in the area during the holiday season. A collection box was located at the RIA in the week leading up to the contest and additional toys were collected at the gate prior to Thursday night's contest. The Hodag hockey team has participated the toy drive annually since 2011.

"We hope the gifts are bountiful and they go to kids that really want them," coach M.J. Laggis said. "It's heartwarming. Any time you can do any tiny thing like this and try to connect kids to their community, it's a great thing."

The RHS boys' basketball team held a similar toy drive Tuesday, Dec. 21 in conjunction with its game against Wausau West.
