Thomas Charles Hoha, 76, of Rhinelander died on Nov. 29, 2021 in the comfort of his home after a long battle with Crohn's disease and kidney failure. Tom was born on July 23, 1945, in Rhinelander, to Ray and Catherine (Clark) Hoha. He was the third oldest child and grew up with 5 siblings. Tom was an all-star football player for the Rhinelander Hodags and was given all conference honors in the Wisconsin Valley Conference for both offensive end and defensive tackle in 1962. He graduated from RUHS in 1963. Tom went on to attend the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire until he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and his illness made him unable to continue his studies. He returned to Rhinelander where he worked for Coca-Cola for a few years. He met his wife, Nina (Rempert) in the summer of 1970. They were married on December 31, 1977 at The First United Methodist Church in Rhinelander and had three children, Josh, Megan, and Erin. Tom's illness kept him from working, but he put in full-time hours raising his children. During the warmer months, you could always find Tom and the kids down at the lake access enjoying the water and sunshine. He was one of their biggest supporters. He taught them to always follow their dreams and nothing was unobtainable if they put their minds to it. He taught them how to survive in this crazy world of unknowns. Tom was well known for his famous dinner rolls. He was an avid Packers fan who enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, and working with his hands. His words of encouragement, compassion for others, and immense strength will truly be missed.

Tom is survived by his wife, Nina, of Rhinelander, his son Josh (Carissa) Hoha of Owatonna, Minn., his daughters Megan (Dan Arndorfer) Hoha and Erin (Geremiah) Young, both of Rhinelander, his grandchildren Garrett, Thomas, Emaline, Henry, Jarod, Austin, Riley, Evelyn, Isaiah, and Sylvia, his brothers Jim Hoha of Rhinelander and David (Barbara) Hoha of Florence, his sisters Fran Olson of Panama City Beach, Fla. and Donna (David) Jorgensen of Brooklyn Center, Minn., and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his youngest brother Larry.

A visitation for Tom will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home in Rhinelander. You may leave your private condolences for the Hoha family at www.carlsonfh.com.

The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is handling the arrangements for the family.
