Besides raising five children, Laurel was employed at a number of different places throughout Rhinelander during her lifetime. They included Cleary's Dairy, the OB Dept. at St. Mary's Hospital, the Claridge, the Northwestern, McDonald's, Forward Services and for attorney Lee Bernsteen. She also babysat for quite a few children. In the little spare time she had she enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing. She will be remembered for always either singing or humming all day long. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
Laurel is survived by her children, Jody (Mike) Fleming, Tuck (Mary) Pence, Mike (Lynda) Pence, Jon (Pam) Pence and Boone (Christy) Pence, her grandchildren Jameson, Elijah, Abbi and Cora, her sister Joyce Busche, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Dorothy Meyer and her brothers Robert, Gene and Orly Simons.
Visitation for Laurel was held on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021 from 10 a.m. to noon, with the funeral service following at noon, all at the Carlson Funeral Home. You may leave your private condolences for the Pence family at www.carlsonfh.com.
