Ronald J. Geske, age 85, of Pine Lake passed away on Aug. 22, 2021 at Rennes Health and Rehab.

Ron was born on Dec. 24, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois to Marion and Harriet (Piekarski) Geske. He graduated from Weber High School in Chicago in 1953. He was an apprentice tool and die maker from 1954 to 1958.

He married Beverly (Birmingham) of Skokie, Ill. on April 4, 1959. He then was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from April 1959 to August 1962 attaining the rank of Spc 4. Together they traveled to two Army bases out east where they started their family. Their first two children, Pat and Sue, were born in Army hospitals and the last two, Chris and Steve, back in the Chicago area.

Ron was employed in the printing field as a machinist starting in 1961. He worked for various printing companies and contractors in the Chicago area installing printing presses. He retired in 2001 with 42 years in machinist union Local 126 IAM.

They raised their family in Rolling Meadow, Ill., living there for 43 years. There he was a volunteer firefighter for 12 years. Together with Bev they traveled to many islands and enjoyed scuba diving and underwater photography. They also enjoyed cruises and traveling through the United States camping.

After retirement they moved to Rhinelander, where they bought their lake house and enjoyed pontoon rides, fishing, and anything outdoors. He enjoyed participating in activities with Newcomers & Friends and volunteering with NATH/Frederick Place. He put his skills to work when NATH bought Frederick Place and helped with the renovation. His hobbies were photography, both land and underwater, woodworking, wood turning and flower gardening.

Ron is survived by his wife Bev, of Pine Lake; children Pat, Sue and Chris; grandchildren Joe, Stephanie, Alex, Rachel, and Trinity; brother Jim and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Steve, brother Marion, sisters Lorraine and Sylvia, sisters-in-law Ollie and Virge, brothers-in-law Tom and Geno, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers donations in Ron's name can be made to NATH/Frederick Place.
