Trig's grocer honored for excellence: Brayshaw receives excellence in operations award
This is the 18th year the WGA has presented the Excellence in Operations Award.
"The award is intended to recognize those in the grocery industry who are on the front-lines every day and instrumental in the success of their companies," said Brandon Scholz, President & CEO of the WGA.
According to Brayshaw's nomination, the one thing about him that stands out is "his enthusiasm for the industry while providing support in all areas of operations ... Brad's wealth of knowledge and experience helps motivate others to push the envelope of possibilities to better our guest service, our technology, our efficiencies, and training/development. He is a go-getter. He finds a way."
Over 30 years ago, Brayshaw began his grocery career as a bagger for Woodman's on the west side of Madison. Since then, he has spent time in various roles with various retailers in the state including produce dept. leader, produce merchandiser, director of produce, store director, and has spent the last four years with T.A. Solberg Co., Inc. as director of operations. His experience comes from all levels of the industry, from retail to wholesale, from independent to corporate, from store director to merchandiser, and from fresh to center store. Some may even say that Brayshaw has "an example" of almost any program, department, standard, policy, or idea in the industry; an encyclopedia of grocery retail knowledge, the release states.
"Brad's enthusiasm and passion for the industry is contagious. He is always looking for ways to make practices better, more efficient, more fresh, more guest friendly, or better for the associates. Brad encourages new ideas, builds confidence in others, and ultimately wants what's best for the guests. He has coordinated several new areas of business for Trig's such as a fresh sushi program, a Caribou Coffee program, and a fresh popcorn and cotton candy program to name a few," the release states. "Combining his enthusiasm and passion with his expertise, Brad has incorporated several new programs for the betterment of both Trig's associates and the company as whole. He quickly ushered in a new forecasting and scheduling program that would save expense, bring consistency to sales forecasting and scheduling, and ultimately streamline the company's labor models. He also identified the need for a training and development program and coordinated with all figures of leadership within Trig's organization to extract their skills and knowledge and in-turn create an immense library of information for specified areas of operation including meat, produce, deli, bakery, and center store. And to help curtail the current difficulties faced by grocers of hiring enough workers, he helped created a new position of assistant store director within each of Trig's stores that would be solely responsible to ensure the training and development of our teams was being executed at store level. The position now provides a resource for associates that was limited in the past.
