Kurt A. Kroll, age 76, of Three Lakes, passed away on August 8, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center after a brief and complicated illness.

Kurt was born on Oct. 8, 1944, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Curtis and Lucille (Kingsbury) Kroll. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1962 and was drafted into the U.S. Army in February 1965. He served a tour of duty overseas as a light infantry in the Vietnam war from February 1968-69, reaching the rank of sergeant.

He was a union carpenter and also a millwright for Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin Rapids for 30 years, retiring in 1999 and making Three Lakes his home.

Kurt was a charter boat captain of Chauzer Charters in Two Rivers for several years and a proud member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, friends and his dogs, and was known for his sense of humor, even until the very end.

On Oct. 3, 1992 he married Terri (Karl) of Kewaunee. With his two young children from a previous marriage, Michael and Jacque, they all united and became a family. Together they had two more children, Logan and Anna.

Kurt is survived by his wife, Terri of Three Lakes; children: Michael and Jacque (Marcus) Kroll of Wisconsin Rapids and Logan and Anna (fiancé Justin) Kroll of Rhinelander; grandchildren: Shauna Pazurek, Kale Kroll, Marcus Kroll-Harrison Jr., Ja'Vari Kroll-Harrison, and Jace Kroll-Harrison; sister: Wendy (Bob) Smith of Wisconsin Rapids; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Bob and Joan Karl of Kewaunee; sisters-in-law: Cathy Karl (Harold Olson) of Manitowoc, and Mary (Jim) Bertrand of Kewaunee; brothers-in-law: Bob (Luanne) Karl of Tomahawk, Tom (Michelle) Karl of Kewaunee, Tim (Debbie) Karl of Reedsville, and John (Mary) Karl of Green Bay; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kurt's honor to Tick-Borne Conditions United, tbcunited.org for research and to bring awareness to all tick-borne illnesses.

The family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at both Ascension St. Mary's Hospital, Rhinelander, and Marshfield Medical Center, Marshfield.

Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Kroll family.
