YMCA to host 'Clash of the Paddles' outdoor pickleball tournament at Pioneer Park
There are seven brackets this year: intermediate women, intermediate men, intermediate mixed, advanced women, advanced men, advanced mixed and skinny singles. Intermediates should have a 3.5 USAPA rating or lower and advanced 4.0 plus. Teams will be given a starting time based on the number of teams entered. Teams are guaranteed five games and USAPA rules will apply throughout the tournament.
Registration is open to the first 36 teams and must be made by Wednesday, September 8.
"In addition there will be a competition for beginners who have not participated in competititve play," the release states. "Beginners do not need to come with a partner."
"This year playing on the newly renovated courts at Pioneer Park will be both fun and challenging," said Marilyn Duschl, tournament director.
Food from CT's Deli Food Truck, A'la Mode Ice Cream and Coffee Shop, and Holiday Gas coffee and snacks will be available for purchase. The fee per player is $30 and $10 for entering an additional bracket. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in each bracket.
Proceeds from this tournament support the Y Annual Support Campaign which provides assistance for youth, adults and families to attend YMCA programs and activities.
