Daniel Craig Ottman, age 61, of Rhinelander, died on Aug. 3, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Dec. 15, 1959, in Waukesha, the son of Cletus and Patricia (Starkey) Ottman. Dan spent his early years in the Milwaukee area and then his family moved to Rhinelander in 1973, where he has lived since. He graduated from the Rhinelander High School in 1978.

Following his schooling, Dan enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served for two years. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Rhinelander. He then was employed by Triumph Twist Drill, PCA in Tomahawk and finally as an over the road trucker before disabilities forced his retirement in 2000.

Dan married Rose Lieder on Aug. 17, 2004 in Rhinelander and God blessed them with nearly 17 years of marriage.

Dan was a member of the Pine Grove Community Church and was a volunteer with the Pine Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a diehard fan of the Green Bay Packers. He loved his family, especially the kids and grandkids.

Dan is survived by his wife Rose, his daughters Tara (Mark Fus) Grimshaw and Misty Ottman, his son Michael (Shawna) Smith, his stepchildren Paul (Rochelle) Werth, Jacob (Jennifer) Trudeau, Jeremiah (Amanda) Trudeau, Jasmine (Michael) Trudeau-Rinaldi and Justin (Linda) Trudeau, his 21 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his sisters Kathryn Ottman, Cindy (Roy) Kelling and Jennifer (Casey) Sackett, his three brothers Raymond (Dan) Ottman, Richard Ottman and Steve (Shelley) Ottman, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Misty Starr, his sister Diana Durre, his nephew Jonathon Ottman and his first wife Dianne Ottman.

Visitation for Dan will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 9 to 11 a.m., with funeral services following at 11 a.m. at the Pine Grove Community Church. Reverend Jeremy Vander Galien will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Northwoods National Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for the Ottman family at www.carlsonfh.com.
