Representatives from several organizations from around the Northwoods and state wait their turn to address the Wisconsin Joint Finance Committee Wednesday at the Hodag Dome. The public hearing was the second of four opportunities for public comment on the next biennial budget that could affect the budgets for many municipalities, school districts and non-profit organizations. Prior to a midday recess, representatives from the School District of Rhinelander asked the committee to consider raising some types of state aid, while Rhinelander mayor Chris Frederickson asked that not only for an increase in state aid - which he said disproportionately goes to cities in the southern part of the state. More coverage from the meeting will appear in the Tuesday, April 27 edition of the River News.
