Approximately 2,000 students attended the virtual conference, each with the goal of making it to national competition which will be virtual this year but would have been held in Anaheim, Calif., the release states. Besides competing, students attended leadership workshops, listened to industry speakers, and virtually other students from across the state.
Rhinelander students competed in various business-related events including Accounting and Health Care Administration, all of which required taking a 100-question test. Some events also included role plays, in which a person is given a situation, then must resolve it by communicating with a judge. There were also several speaking events that were prepared impromptu or in advance.
For each event, the top four places qualify an individual or team for nationals. For Rhinelander, Makenzie Denny placed fourth in Computer Applications and Abbey Henrichs placed fourth in Networking Infrastructure.
Brynlei Kuhn, Kaylee Brown, and Ashleigh Hull were also recognized at state. Kuhn placed fifth in Accounting and Brown, Denny, and Hull took eighth in the Community Service Project.
The chapter was also recognized for its community service efforts based on the amount of time and members who have helped complete several projects throughout the year, especially Trick or Can, Jeans For Teens, and Letters to Santa.
Rhinelander placed second in Community Service this year.
The two students who qualified for nationals have the opportunity to compete virtually in June against students from all 50 states.
