Spencer A. Scheeler, age 80, of the Town of Pelican, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020.

Spencer was born in Rhinelander on Sunday, June 23, 1940 to Raymond W. and Eleanore M. (Schulz) Scheeler. He was raised in Rhinelander and was a 1958 graduate of Rhinelander High School. In 1959 Spencer enlisted in the United States Marines. He proudly served his country on Okinawa until 1961. On April 4, 1959 at St. Mary's Rectory in Rhinelander, Spencer was united in marriage to Sheri Brown. They later were divorced. Upon completion of serving in the Marines, Spencer returned to Rhinelander.

He began his employment at St. Mary's Hospital as an X-Ray Technician. He would remain at the hospital for over 30 years. His duties would change during this time from X-Ray Technician and Nuclear X-Ray Technician to being an Instructor to the students who were studying to become X-Ray Technicians and at the time of his retirement Spencer was the manager of the X-Ray Department.

Upon his retirement, Spencer purchased a saw mill. He was very proud of the fact that he had built three homes and was known for his carpentry skills.

Spencer loved listening to country music and was a pretty darn good fiddle player. He loved to visit with family, friends, and residents of Lake Julia who would stop by either by car or boat. Spencer's VIP Lounge located at his home was usually open.

One of the most important parts of his life was his family. He loved them dearly and took great pride in their accomplishments, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Surviving are his children: Renee Scheeler and Rick Schwanz of Tomah, Jeff Scheeler of Cumberland, and Renell (Jeff) Myers of Tomah; three grandchildren: Marissa (Tony) Miles of Warrens, Wis., Adam Kneifl, and Matthew Scheeler of Cumberland, and one great-granddaughter, Raelynn Miles. He is further survived by a sister, Janice Scheeler of Rhinelander and by two sisters-in-law, Barb Scheeler of Rhinelander and Pam Scheeler of Ashwaubenon. Spencer is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by two brothers; Dick "Tricky" and Tom Scheeler.

At Spencer's request, there will be no visitation or service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin 54501, 715-365-4343. You are invited to sign the guestbook or leave an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com
