His family moved to Rhinelander where he attended elementary school at Zion Lutheran Grade School and then graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1956.
Gerry married the former Betsy Christ and they enjoyed 42 years of marriage before she preceded him in death in 2010. He had retired from American Motors after 30 years and then moved with Betsy to their retirement home up north. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling and archery and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. Later in life he enjoyed watching all sporting events on TV and competing against family members in any and all yard games. Gerry was competitive, creative, had a great sense of humor and a friendly smile.
Gerry is survived by his sister Darlene Scheidegger, his brother David (Susan) Stefan, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other family and many friends. In addition to his wife Betsy, he was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sharon, his mother-in-law, two nephews and two brothers-in-law.
Since childhood, Gerry's Christian faith was important to him. It was his guide through life. May he Rest In Peace in his heavenly home.
Private family services for Gerry will be held at the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery.
