He was born in Lawrence, Kansas, on Oct. 23, 1939, to James and Virginia (Daymude) Sales.
Frank's father was in the military, so growing up Frank's family moved throughout the United States and part of Europe. He graduated in 1957 from high school in California. He then attended college for one year. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
He met his future wife Kathryn M. Lacher at a card party in Highland, California. The couple were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sept. 21, 1973.
He attended mechanics school. This led to owning an auto shop in San Bernardino, Calif., with his wife, Kathryn. They also became partners in a second auto shop in Phelan, Calif. The couple lived in California until 2016 when they moved to Rhinelander.
Frank through his lifetime enjoyed riding motorcycles, from Hondas to his Harley Trike.
Frank had many interests including fishing, mechanics, computers, camping at Lake Havasu, Ariz. and Lake Paris in California, BBQs with family in Texas, pontoon boat rides and fishing for catfish.
He also enjoyed taking drives enjoying the scenery and looking for wildlife, going to casinos and loved his dog.
But most of all, Frank loved spending time with his family.
He will be remembered for the wild stories he would tell, his ability to problem solve and his thirst for learning through reading.
