Tom was born in Wittenberg on Sept. 16, 1938, to Lloyd and Hilda (Borreson) Cady. He was raised in the Wittenberg area until 1952 when the family moved to Rhinelander. Tom graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1957. He began his employment with the paper mill in 1957 and remained there until his retirement in 2004. He married Darlene A. Bolte on Nov. 4, 1961 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
His employment was interrupted while he served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. Tom was very proud of the fact that while stationed in Germany he was one of a few servicemen chosen to have dinner with President Kennedy.
Tom enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Darlene; children: Gregory (Mary) Cady of Pulaski, Bruce (Dawn) Cady of Milwaukee, and Tammy (Rick) Williams of Center Point, Iowa. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, one great-grandson and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lloyd (Virginia) Cady Jr. and Alfred Cady and by one sister, Betty (Bill) Gauthier.
Military honors will take place on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 21, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Northland Memorial Park. Military honors will be performed by the Ray Rousseau V.F.W. Post #3143 Rhinelander and two representatives from the United States Army. Please arrive by 1:45 p.m.
